The Carbohydrate Research
Award, established by the Editors of the Journal Carbohydrate Research
and by the European Carbohydrate Organisation, is sponsored by Elsevier and
will be given in this Symposium for the first time. These Awards aim to
recognise a young glycoscientist who has demonstrated excellence in research.
The main purpose is to encourage research in the field in response to the major
challenges facing Europe and the whole world. The selected candidate will
present the Carbohydrate Research Award Lecture.
